With the goal of strengthening cultural identity and emotional well-being through art, Artelatam, the Consulate of Ecuador in Queens, the Ecuadorian Civic Committee, LULAC, and Altamirano Financial Services present the program “Connecting Cultures and Healing Emotions.”
This initiative will offer interactive art workshops and mural creation activities aimed at uniting traditions and family legacies, inspiring the Ecuadorian community in New York.
“Art can transform public spaces, reflecting our culture and making them more attractive for social interaction, general well-being, and physical activity,” says Sylvia Mata, President of Artelatam. “We aim to expand this initiative to other countries to preserve cultural heritage globally.”
The events will be free and open to the entire family, featuring activities such as dance, gardening, Ecuadorian-inspired artistic creation, and music, as well as highlighting the country’s traditional festivities.
The first event will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Consulate of Ecuador in Queens, located at 24-15 Queens Plaza N, Long Island City, NY 11101. Additional workshops will be held at different times through June 2025.
